Hannah Cornelius Centre

Our main project is the establishment of a Community Centre in Ocean View which serves as a resource and support hub for the community by the community. We are committed to partnering with other community based organisations such as Valley Development Projects and Community Cohesion, to renovate, equip and operationalise this centre and its services.
The centre is called the Hannah Cornelius Centre, and is owned by Valley Development Projects. The building has been renovated and services are already being offered. The official opening is set to happen at the end of November.
There are currently six projects being run at the HCC. They are as follows:
  1. Child counselling service: Valley Development Projects
  2. Victim empowerment and trauma counselling: Community Cohesion
  3. A group for adolescent girls who have had to leave school before matriculation: Girls Matter
  4. Group therapy for adolescent girls: VDP
  5. Addiction and substance abuse counselling: Living Hope
  6. Martial arts training: Raymond Shaw
We, as HCF, want to support the Hannah Cornelius Centre in terms of resources which includes things like mats and cushions and toys. It also includes resources such as training, and the full-time employment of another counsellor at the HCC.
The HCF is also committed to assisting Cheslin Marsh in terms of his recovery and his future studies in any way possible. We would like to be able to give the same support to other young people who can make a difference in South Africa.
